David Heads the Project & Structured Finance Latin American Group, overseeing advisory, lending and acquisition finance for all PF sectors, including Infra and Telecom, Power and Renewable, and Natural Resources & New Energies. Additionally, David is the Chairman of the Board for SMBC’s SOFOM in Mexico and a member of the investment committee for the SMBC-LV Debt Fund in Colombia. David has more than 20 years of project, structured, advisory and acquisition finance experience in the Americas (USA, Canada and Latin America).

Prior to joining SMBC, David was an Executive Director for WestLB’ Infrastructure Americas Group (North America and Latin America), Vice President for BBVA’s North America Project, Structured & Acquisition Finance Team, and Vice President for Dexia’s Latin America Structured Finance Team. He also worked for Standard & Poor’s where he was responsible for providing credit ratings for project & structured finance transactions in the infrastructure, power, and oil and gas space.

David has been involved in the origination, advisory, execution, and syndication of projects ans acquisition finance with total investments of more than $60 billion in the Americas (Canada, USA, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Argentina, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay, Aruba, Bermuda, Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica, among others.

David is fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in Portuguese. He holds a B.A. in business administration from UANL in Mexico, and an MPA from Columbia University in New York. David holds FINRA’s series 79, 63 and 24.
