Gabriel Costa serves as the Shell Group’s Associate General Counsel for Litigation in Brazil, Latin America, and the Caribbean region, based in Rio de Janeiro. He is a member of Shell’s Global Litigation Leadership Team. His team handles complex and high-exposure domestic and international litigation and arbitration across jurisdictions such as Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Trinidad and Tobago, and the United States. Previously, Gabriel led Shell’s Arbitrators Advisory Committee, co-authored the company’s Dispute Resolution Guidelines, and served as a director of Shell Brazil’s privately held pension fund. Before joining Shell in 2012, Gabriel practiced litigation and arbitration at international law firms in Porto Alegre, São Paulo, and New York. He is a member of Brazil’s delegation to the ICC International Commission on Arbitration & ADR and currently chairs ICC Brazil’s Committee on Arbitration & ADR. Gabriel holds an LL.M. degree from Northwestern University School of Law.
